Phoenix, New York Central School District - the 1949 Phoenician

Submitted by Charles Beams (12/4/2014 - updated 12/5/2014)

Once again, my apologies for squiggly and clipped scans - I'm still finding it difficult to work with images and text printed tight to the book bindings and page edges. But hey, it's better than nothing.

The yearbook cover for 1949..

This appears to Ann Westover's book, and it appears that she was a student as the yearbook in the library was stuffed with small, printed senior name cards (we used them in graduation announcements in my day) with signatures and good wishes written on the backs of them. They didn't write autographs right in the book in those days.

A photo of the school and the Alma Mater...

The dedication page with a back-handed compliment to Miss Whye...

The 1949 School Board...

And the staff page - with the first credits I've seen given to the secretary and the custodian...

And the faculty page...

This on the page following the "Faculty" page and I'm making an educated guess that it is a photo of the elementary faculty - a few names that I recognize are beginning to show up...

And the senior class...

Just for fun - senior statistics...

More fun - candid photos...

Ads that seem to be significant ...

This ad gives context to the yearbooks of the previous 2-3 years when the class says "Thank You" to the Corson's for the photos...
